The Bridge Gives Back to the Community!
Waite Park, MN, Sept. 14, 2005 - The Bridge digs deep to give back to the
Spanish speakers of our state, donating over $760 worth of Spanish translations
to the AmeriCorps Community Technology Empowerment Project (CTEP).
To complete the project, AmeriCorps partnered with individuals, agencies and
the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR), whose mission is to make Minnesota
discrimination free. One step in reaching that goal is to get the word out
about human rights issues to more of Minnesota’s non-English speaking
population. The team worked to publish on-line documents in multiple languages
that will educate the public on discrimination policies and abuse.
Translations are published on their
website (Español) and include such topics as:
- Intake at the MDHR
- Discrimination in Education
- Race, National Origin and Religious Discrimination
- Sex Discrimination
- Disability Discrimination
- Website Text
AmeriCorps CTEP member, Linda Shoemaker, offered the following message of gratitude, “I
would like to extend a heart felt thanks to The Bridge [WLC, Inc.] for their
generous contribution to AmeriCorps CTEP (Community Technology Empowerment Project).
The translations provided by The Bridge will help Spanish-speaking communities
to access information about their rights under the Minnesota Human Rights Act.”
